Graduating at Newcastle University with a Bsc.Hons. in Civil Engineering I was always drawn towards Design and Construction, formulating plans and producing a solid outcome. I was involved with the early Motorway Network throughout our country and eventually arrived in the South East of England working on the newly acclaimed M25.
I then took a leap of faith and retrained to become an adviser in the Financial Services industry over 37 years ago. Firstly as a Sole Trader, then moving into management in charge of 20 advisers, I eventually set up my own business in 1997. With a select number of mature personnel specialising in Investments, Retirement Planning and Tax Planning we moved on to 2007 when my son Martin joined the Practice.
He was of an age where young people’s needs could be appreciated so this put us in a position to be able to help our client’s offspring to get their foot on the first rung of the ladder in Financial Planning. Our business has always been aimed at helping people to achieve their goals, a family business working with families.
I enjoy the challenge that each day brings working with a hardcore of longstanding existing clients and from time to time new referrals. It has enabled me to see life through so many pairs of eyes and these life experiences play a great part in helping others to see how best to plan their own lives.
By Treating Clients Fairly and using a combination of People Skills, Technical Knowledge and Problem Solving we can provide the best outcomes for our clients.
My passion is still the Great Outdoors, this stems from being born on the foothills of the Pennines in Co. Durham. So be it a hike on the South Downs or the Cambrian Mountains of Wales, a coastal walk, fly-fishing on a river or lake, or enjoying the company of other like minded folk on the golf course, are some of my many outdoor interests.
I also have a keen interest in Antiques and Collectables particularly where there is a story attached, also of late I have reverted back to my brush and easel when I need a bit of quiet time.

I started as an Adviser in 2007, just before the demise of Lehman Brothers and then the ensuing Credit Crunch of 2008. Since then I have helped clients and their families navigate their finances through the good times and the bad. The last couple of years since 2020 have been turbulent to say the least, but I’ve been on hand at every step to provide personal, tailored advice.
Prior to this I was an Organic Chemist, working in research laboratories developing new medicines for pain relief, diabetes, and HIV having gained an MChem degree at the University of Bath and PhD. at the University of Southampton. I’ve been published three times, but after 10 years in scientific research I decided to join the family business to start learning all over again!
As an Adviser you must put yourself in the shoes of the client and see things from their perspective. With care, trust, time and patience I build a relationship with my clients and work with them to put the right framework in place to help them achieve their financial goals. I see myself very much as a ‘Financial GP’ giving comprehensive advice on all aspects of personal finance.
The best aspects of an being an Adviser is that it is wonderful blend of people skills, technical knowledge and problem solving. Every day is different, and I love meeting new people and helping them improve their financial situation. I also get to see how my clients’ lives have developed over the years, humbly observing that I had a part to play.
When I’m not working you can find me either at a Saturday morning ParkRun, lost on a golf course somewhere but more than likely I will be with my wife and two young children on a beach walk, on a bike ride, gardening or taking some air in the Southdowns National Park. Every Wednesday I am also lucky enough to play the flute in a fantastic group of musicians called the Southdowns Concert Band. I say lucky, because it was here that I met a young clarinettist in 2011 who would eventually become my wife in 2014!

'Martin Jeffery has been my Financial Advisor for more than ten years, and for many years prior to that, Ron Jeffery was advisor to my father. Their help was particularly valuable in helping sort out my finances after a very sudden bereavement. Martin's ongoing advice has always been good, and everything is clearly explained. It is always a pleasure to meet up with Martin, and I have no hesitation is recommending him.'
Gillian B.'The Ron Jeffery Practice have looked after my elderly parents’ finances for over 25 years and on their recommendation, I too engaged Ron several years ago. Ron has provided me with sound advice and guidance to enable me to make informed decisions. I recently engaged his son Martin to look after my pensions planning and he has taken me through every step and presented information clearly and calmly and as a result, I have confidence in the choices I am making about my financial future. Both are personable and professional and always respond in a timely manner. I have no doubt that they will continue to take the same care and attention over my future financial requirements as they have done so far.'
Miss E. HigginsI started in financial services when I left college. It was only meant to be an entry level job while I figured out what I wanted to do in life and 17 years later, I call it my career!
I joined Martin and Ron in early 2022. I was looking for a Practice that shared my values for helping people and their families in all aspects of financial planning, and they certainly ticked all the boxes.
I love using my expertise to assist my local community. There’s no better feeling than helping someone cut through the complications of Finance and making a positive impact on their lives. My aim is to bring peace of mind to your financial matters.
Originally from Wigan in the North West, I have grown up in the Eastleigh and Chandlers Ford area in Hampshire for most of my life, and love being based on the South Coast. My wife is from Worcestershire, so we spend a lot of time on the road visiting two very large families who we love spending time with.
I enjoy socialising over food and drink with a tight group of friends whom I met at school, and I love playing and watching sport – Football, Rugby and Golf in the main. I have enjoyed playing all three, but now in my mid 30’s, it’s just golf for the forseeable.
I am a big believer in getting outdoors. Even on busy days I need to find time for at least a 30 minute stroll. I am lucky to live in an area with some lovely woodland paths.
Mine and my wife’s favourite UK break is the Lake District. I fell in love with it as a child when visiting with my grandparents and don’t get to visit nearly as much as I’d like to.
I have a very eclectic taste in music but my favourite band and go-to would be Oasis. However, I think I must have been born in the wrong era as I’m a big fan of the 70’s and 80’s. I absolutely love Queen but have to confess that country music is my guilty pleasure!

'The service that we received from TRJP when renewing our Mortgage product was efficient, detailed and full with expertise. Mark really took the time to get to know our situation, both our short and long term plans and left us with a customised report with incredible attention to detail. Putting in the extra time and effort made us feel more comfortable with the decision we made in a time of great uncertainty. We’re very happy customers and will be engaging TRJP for our future plans’.
Hannah'We are first time buyers and Mark has been fantastic. He came to see us to explain everything to us in person and he helped us all the way through. We wouldn't have done it without his help. Thank you so much, you are amazing!'
VirginiaI started working with Ron & Martin early in 2019, firstly just helping write review letters, but soon becoming more and more involved in the day to day administration of the practice. I’m the expert in everything the boys don’t have time to do! While I know I couldn’t possibly fill Trish’s shoes, I hope I make the working week easier for Ron and Martin, and now Mark.
I’m an organiser, office manager and administrator, having worked in property development and design companies most of my working life. The Ron Jeffery Practice has been my first foray into the world of financial administration, but I now know my ISAs from my SIPPs!
I’ll confess to a mild obsession with the Harlequins rugby club (Danny Care especially). I play bass guitar and sing with a covers band called The Box of Frogs. I have three almost grown up children and a recently retired journalist husband, two lurchers and six chickens. As a long term “Bodycoacher” I’m working out with Joe Wicks first thing every morning, another obsession! We can be found at The Stoop during the rugby season and on the River Rother on our boat Little Wing in the summer!
